Montevallo ArtWalk

An eclectic artwalk featuring up to 100 artists, craftspeople, and performers lining Main Street — including the Art Stalk daytime handmade art market — free admission, street party atmosphere, wine and refreshments from local businesses.

The Montevallo ArtWalk is one of the most beloved community events on the Shelby County calendar — a free, festive celebration of art, creativity, and local community that transforms Main Street into a vibrant outdoor gallery and street party every fall.

History

The ArtWalk was founded in 2011 by then-Mayor Hollie Cost, who envisioned a community event that would celebrate Montevallo’s creative spirit and draw visitors to downtown. Over the years it has grown into a marquee event that draws thousands of attendees from across central Alabama.

What to Expect

Up to 100 artists, craftspeople, and performers line both sides of Main Street for the day. The ArtWalk also includes Art Stalk — a daytime handmade art market woven into the event that spotlights makers selling original handcrafted work alongside the broader gallery experience. The variety of work on display is genuinely eclectic — paintings, sculpture, pottery, handmade jewelry, photography, fiber arts, and much more. Live musical performances provide a soundtrack throughout the event, with multiple performers rotating through the day.

Local businesses along Main Street participate by offering wine, refreshments, and special promotions to ArtWalk visitors, making the day a full downtown experience rather than just an art show.
