Montevallo Arts Fest
Annual spring arts festival at Orr Park featuring 130+ artists from across the Southeast and local musical groups along the banks of Shoal Creek.
The Montevallo Arts Fest is Montevallo’s beloved spring arts festival, held each April at scenic Orr Park along the banks of Shoal Creek. The combination of natural beauty, world-class tree carvings, and a curated selection of artists from across the Southeast makes this one of the most distinguished outdoor art events in central Alabama.
The Setting
There may be no better backdrop for an arts festival in central Alabama than Orr Park in spring. The trees are leafed out, the creek is running clear over the shoals, and Tim Tingle’s carved gnomes and creatures peer out from the undergrowth at every turn. Artists and visitors alike note that the setting elevates the whole experience.
The Artists
More than 130 artists from across the Southeast set up along the park’s paths and open areas, representing a wide range of media:
- Painting — watercolor, oil, acrylic, and mixed media
- Photography — fine art and documentary
- Pottery and ceramics
- Jewelry and metalwork
- Woodworking and sculpture
- Fiber arts and textiles
The juried selection process ensures quality, and the breadth of artists traveling from across the region means there is genuinely something for every taste and budget.
Live Music
Local and regional musical groups perform throughout the day, providing a soundtrack that complements the relaxed, celebratory atmosphere. The music ranges from acoustic folk to blues to Americana, consistent with Montevallo’s eclectic arts culture.
The Montevallo Arts Fest is free to attend. It is typically held in April — check local announcements for the exact date each year.
