Dia de Muertos Festival

A vibrant celebration of life and remembrance featuring live music, dancing, food, children's activities, and a community altar to honor loved ones.

The Dia de Muertos Festival brings a vivid, joyful, and deeply meaningful celebration to Orr Park’s Pecan Grove each November. Rooted in the Mexican tradition of honoring the departed through color, music, food, and remembrance, Montevallo’s festival has found an enthusiastic home in this community.

The Event

Held on November 1st from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the festival fills the Pecan Grove with:

  • Live music and dancing — celebratory performances throughout the evening
  • Food — traditional and festival fare
  • Children’s activities — family-friendly programming
  • Community altar (ofrenda) — a shared space for attendees to honor and remember loved ones
  • Cultural education — sharing the traditions and meaning behind Dia de Muertos

Admission is free.

Organizers

The festival is a collaborative effort organized by Su Casa Real Estate, Team Lehman Realty, Montevallo Main Street, and Impact Montevallo — a partnership that reflects the community-wide embrace of this event.

Growing Tradition

The 3rd annual festival was held in 2025, demonstrating real momentum and community investment. Each year the event has grown in attendance and scope, cementing its place on the Montevallo fall calendar alongside the ArtWalk and Tinglewood Festival.
